Unusual cause of urinary retention in a child: inflammatory pseudotumor of the urinary bladder

Abstract Background Urinary bladder masses are uncommon in the pediatric age group and pose a diagnostic challenge, often necessitating histopathological differentiation confirmation. An unusual mimic of neoplastic mass is inflammatory pseudotumor, timely identification diagnosis which prevents undue patient stress radical treatment. Case presentation We present case 7-year-old female child who presented with hematuria, urinary was detected on ultrasound further characterized by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) diagnosed as an pseudotumor (IPT) histopathology. Conclusions This report describes features IPT along list differential diagnoses emphasizing need for radiologists to be aware this surprising rare entity.
